GX Superyachts, a new project from Greenline Yachts, is entering the superyacht market with ambitious goals. Greenline has been a leader in hybrid-powered yachting since 2008 and is now applying this knowledge to larger luxury yachts that range from 24 to 56 meters in length. The company aims to create yachts that are not only stylish and luxurious but also efficient, cutting CO2 emissions by up to 60%.
The first yacht in this new line, the GX42, is a 42-meter aluminum boat that rethinks traditional superyacht design and propulsion. It is set to launch in summer 2026 and will offer two models—the Coupe and the RPH Flybridge—both designed to promote eco-friendly luxury standards.
GX42: A New Direction
The Coupe
The GX42 Coupe has a superstructure covered with solar panels. These panels can slide apart to reveal a sun deck that includes a jacuzzi and bar area. This smart design creates a unique open-air space that stands out in its class.
The RPH Flybridge
The RPH Flybridge version features a large flybridge with solar panels on every non-functional surface. This design maximizes space for socializing and is energy efficient.
Performance and Propulsion
The GX42 uses a hybrid propulsion system for quiet and efficient cruising in different conditions.
- Electric Mode: Cruise silently at 6 knots for up to 100 nautical miles.
- Diesel Mode: Supports longer trips, allowing for transatlantic travel with a range of 11,571 nautical miles at 6 knots.
The yacht has solar panels and lithium battery banks that provide enough power to keep the vessel running for over 48 hours at anchor without using generators. This setup significantly reduces fuel use and emissions.
Design and Functionality
Exterior and Interior Design
The GX42's exterior, designed by Marco Casali, features clean lines and practical elegance. Inside, high-quality materials from Poltrona Frau and Rugiano provide a luxurious atmosphere. Each detail, from the hidden TVs to the custom furniture, is carefully chosen to create a smooth look.
Beach Club and Stern Features
At the back, the yacht has a beach club with folding sides and a hydraulic swim platform that can also lift a tender. This space is great for relaxing by the water or launching watercraft.
Naval Architecture
Francesco Rogantin designed the hull for stability and efficiency. The architecture supports hybrid propulsion, providing a smooth and comfortable experience on the water.
A Sustainable Future
Built on Experience
For over 15 years, Greenline Yachts has been improving hybrid and electric systems. GX Superyachts uses this knowledge in the superyacht market, focusing on larger boats while keeping sustainability in mind.
Why It Matters
Traditional superyachts often face criticism for harming the environment. The GX42 provides a better option. It reduces emissions, uses renewable energy, and allows for quiet cruising. This yacht marks a move toward more responsible luxury.
The Road Ahead
GX Superyachts will deliver the GX42 in 2026 and is also working on new models that redefine luxury yachting. The company focuses on hybrid technology and innovative design to set new standards in the industry.
